The Edmonton Public School Board has an Operating Budget of $1.2 Billion. There is considerable responsibility that comes with managing a budget this size and it requires financial analysis experience.

 

As a past School Trustee and Budget Committee Chair I have experience balancing school board budgets and financial analysis skills. I balanced a $3.1 Billion Operating Budget and I have experience analyzing budgets line-by-line which will be a big asset to the Edmonton Public School Board.

 

I demonstrated respect for taxpayer dollars throughout my term as School Trustee.

• I voted to cut School Trustee Expense Accounts from $27,000/year to $11,780/year.

• I voted to reduce the salary for the Director of Education by $17,000.

• Over my four years as School Trustee, I spent Zero on airfare.

• Over my four years as School Trustee, I spent Zero on hotels.

 

With the current provincial government, education funding is very scarce. Financial analysis experience matters more than ever to ensure funding is spent directly in our classrooms.
